Which test should I get?
Rapid Antibody test vs Antibody test (lab-based)
Both the Rapid and Lab-based Antibody test are serology blood tests to detect the presence of antibodies that indicate whether or not you have an immune response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus). They are not used to determine if you have Coronavirus.
The Assure Ecotest Rapid Antibody test detects both IgG and IgM antibodies while the lab-based test detects only IgG antibodies.
Test sensitivity and specificity
Assure EcoTest Rapid Antibody Test
The EcoTest COVID-19 IgG/IgM Rapid Test is an in-vitro immunoassay for the direct and qualitative detection of anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgM and anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG in human whole blood, serum or plasma.
EcoTest has Emergency Use Authorization by the FDA and found to have a 100% Sensitivity for IgM (30/30) and 98.8% Specificity for IgM (79/80). IgG Sensitivity was 90% (27/30) and Specificity was 100% (80/80).
What do my results mean?
IgG and IgM Antibodies
Our Rapid Antibody test detects two types of antibodies (immunoglobulins, IgG and IgM) against the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). The lab-based Antibody test shows only IgG antibody results.
Antibodies are proteins produced by the immune system in response to a specific infection. They are found in the blood serum or plasma and develop approximately one week after an individual has been infected.
If IgM antibodies are detected
IgM is usually the first antibody produced by the immune system when a virus attacks. IgM antibodies are produced on average around 7 days after infection, but can show up as early as 4 days. A positive IgM test indicates that you may have been infected and that your immune system has just started responding to the virus.
What, when, and who
Is the antibody test a blood test?
Both the Rapid Antibody test and the Antibody test sent to the BioReference lab are serology blood tests to detect the presence of antibodies that indicate whether or not you have an immune response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Antibody tests should not be used to determine if you have the active virus.
The Rapid Antibody test requires only a drop or two of blood which is done with a finger prick. The Antibody test sent to the lab is a blood draw from the arm.
While over 90% of people develop antibodies within the first 8 to 13 days of the onset of symptoms, it could take as long as 14 days. We recommend you wait a minimum of 14 days since you first had symptoms before being tested. If you are tested too soon, you may test negative for antibodies that your body is still building.
If you think you were infected with COVID-19 but had no symptoms, you can schedule an antibody test but note that the timeline for being tested is still being studied.
Our testing process
How does the testing process work?
Please see our How it Works page for a detailed, step-by-step list of our testing, scheduling and payment process.
Do I need a doctor's referral to be tested?
You do not need a doctor's note to be tested for COVID-19 antibodies.
Can my child be tested?
Yes. As long as the child's legal guardian provides consent, RapidTestMe can perform this test on minors. All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Group antibody testing
Can you come onsite to test our staff?

At your appointment
What can I expect?
You must read our How it works page before scheduling an appointment or coming to be tested..
In summary, you'll park in the front right of the building at 2780 Morris Avenue - in the parking lot on the side of the funeral home. When you arrive, give us a call to let us know you are here. 908-809-3381.
We will have you walk to our entrance in the front middle of the building as soon as we have wiped down the area and prepared for you. You must be able to walk about 50' and up 2 stairs. If not, please let us know and we will come to your car.
You'll show your ID to the nurse then have a seat. The nurse will draw blood from your arm if we are sending your blood to the lab or from your finger with a small prick if you are having the rapid antibody test. The entire process should take only a few minutes. If you are having the rapid test, you can wait for your results.
After your appointment
When can I expect my test results and what happens next?
If you are doing the rapid antibody test, you'll get the results while you wait and receive an email indicating those results.
If your blood is being sent to the lab, we will contact you as soon as your results are available, typically 1 to 2 days. Note: we have no control over the lab's turnaround time.
You can also setup and check your secure patient portal for a copy of your results.
